The MIA (Medical Industry Accredited) system was launched in 2013 by the medical technology industry to:
- raise standards of training for company representatives and service engineers visiting hospitals
- provide assurance to hospital staff that company personnel admitted to hospitals are properly trained and are fully aware of their responsibilities
- help the NHS and private sector fulfil its duty of care to protect patients and ensure safe surgical and clinical outcomes
- provide an efficient and effective national solution for industry and NHS
It is sponsored by the Association of British HealthTech Industries (ABHI) with the support of leading trade associations and clinical organisations, and administered by Medical Industry Ltd.
