It is likely that the whole world breathed a collective sigh of relief after news of successful COVID-19 vaccines was released. Having said that, several Downing Street briefings have had to play the hard role in being excited, but realistic, as we navigate the Winter and the various challenges ahead of rolling out a national vaccination programme.
To that end, the new “mega labs” and “long COVID” clinics will certainly play a central role, in addition to improved testing.
It will come as no surprise that the increase in coronavirus deaths and cases has led to the NHS being put on the highest state of emergency. The measures this gives NHS England will hopefully help it keep the service open for non-COVID business.
And lastly, the NHS have gone back to basics by stressing the basic steps that need to be adhered to, to help reduce the risk of infection.
